Choosing Between Home & Park Family Photos
One of the questions I'm asked most often is whether families should choose an at-home session or head to a park.
The truth is, there's no right or wrong answer. It all comes down to your family's personality, the stage of life you're in and how you'd like your photographs to feel.
Some families thrive running barefoot through a park, while others are happiest curled up together on the couch with a cup of tea. The best location is the one where your family can simply be yourselves.
Park Sessions

If your family loves being outdoors, exploring and being in nature, a park session is a wonderful choice.
There's plenty of room for children to explore, climb, run and play, which means we can capture genuine laughter and little moments as they naturally unfold. We'll wander together rather than stand in one place, stopping wherever the light looks beautiful or something catches your child's attention.
Park sessions are ideal for energetic toddlers, adventurous kids and families who enjoy spending time outside. Whether it's kicking leaves in autumn, picking flowers in spring or simply holding hands as you walk, there's always something to do together.
If your children aren't keen on sitting still, don't worry—I don't expect them to. The best photographs often happen in between the "smile at the camera" moments.

Home Sessions

Home sessions are slower, quieter and incredibly personal.
Instead of exploring a location, we document your family in the place where so many everyday memories are already being made. Reading books in bed, baking together in the kitchen, cuddles on the couch or simply watching your little one play with their favourite toys—these are the moments that become even more meaningful with time.
Being at home can also help children (and parents!) feel more relaxed. There's no rushing out the door, no unfamiliar surroundings and no pressure to perform. Everyone can settle into their own rhythm, making for beautifully natural photographs.
Years from now, your home will likely look different. The toys will be packed away, the bedrooms will change and little hands will grow. Having photographs in the place where this chapter of your family's life happened becomes something truly special.

Still Can't Decide?
The best choice depends on your family's energy.
If your little ones love to run, explore and be outdoors, a park session gives them the freedom to play while we capture genuine moments along the way.
If your family enjoys slower mornings, cosy cuddles and the comfort of home, an in-home session often tells a more intimate story.
And if you can't choose? We can always do both. Starting at home before heading to a nearby park creates a beautiful mix of relaxed lifestyle photographs and playful outdoor moments.
